Experience old
world lifestyle in the former convent of Santa Catalina, just off
the zocalo, while learning photography in a most creative
environment. The subject matter is bountiful, ranging from
indigenous figure studies, to historic architecture and landscapes.
A week of collaboration in tandem with the Weston’s, targeting
vision, print selection, and final participation is certain to
enhance any photographer’s portfolio.
If
you missed last year’s workshop, don't miss the opportunity to join
us this year in the heartland of Mexico for our second annual
Workshop Oaxaca! 2005 was so exciting and enriching we can't wait to
return. This year during our workshop we will attend the opening
night gala of an exhibition of Edward Weston and Kim Weston at the
Manuel Alvarez Bravo Photography Center, who will be celebrating
their 10th Anniversary.
Imagine yourself on
this exciting workshop that will take place in the 16th century
colonial city of Oaxaca, safely encircled by the majestic Sierra
Madre del Sur mountain range. Come with us to explore the region
that Edward Weston and Tina Modotti fell so deeply in love with in
the 1920’s….a cultural blend of open-aired local markets,
traditional culinary sampling, artisan black pottery and folk art in
small villages.A visual architectural wonderland.
The workshop will
consist of visiting the highlights of the city where you will enjoy
photographing the historical architectural landmarks. Photograph
nude figure studies under the close supervision of Kim Weston.
Experience the rare opportunity to see a platinum printing
demonstration in an old world setting. Stay in a beautiful boutique
hotel just steps away from the famous Zocalo (town square) where
musicians, artisans and the local people gather together to eat,
dance and socialize. Attend the 10th Anniversary Opening at The
Manuel Álvarez Bravo Center of Photography featuring an Edward
Weston and Kim Weston Exhibition! Meet local artisans and visit the
amazing galleries of Oaxaca. Eat fine local cuisine. Explore the
richly colored markets and surrounding areas.
